Coppell Kitchen Lighting Upgrade Trends in 2026

Coppell kitchen project

We’ve installed lighting plans in over 30 Coppell kitchens this year. The combinations homeowners are choosing have shifted noticeably from even 18 months ago.

Linear pendants are out, single oversized fixtures are in

Three small pendants in a row over the island is starting to look dated. The trend has shifted hard toward a single oversized statement fixture — typically 36-60 inches wide — that becomes the focal point of the room. Easier to clean, less visual clutter.

Layered lighting is non-negotiable

Recessed cans only is no longer acceptable to most homeowners we talk to. The Coppell standard right now is four layers: recessed cans for general illumination, under-cabinet LED strips for task lighting, accent lighting inside upper cabinets with glass fronts, and the focal-point pendant or fixture over the island.

Smart dimming controls

Lutron Caseta and similar smart-switch systems are getting added to about 70% of Coppell projects this year. Homeowners want preset “cooking” and “entertaining” scenes that set every layer at once, ideally voice-controllable through Alexa or Google Home.

Color temperature matters more than people realize

We strongly recommend 2700K-3000K (warm white) throughout the kitchen. Daylight bulbs (5000K+) are crisp but unflattering — they make food look pale and skin look fluorescent-lit. The cheapest upgrade you can make to an older Coppell kitchen is swapping every bulb to 2700K LED.
